Miles has had a rough couple of weeks. After about a 3 week stint of being "healthy" (i.e., not running fever, no green snot, no nasty coughs, etc) Miles turned up with a bumpy red rash all over his torso on Super Bowl Sunday. He had been running a low grade fever for a day or 2 but I figured it was just viral. I gave him Benadryl thinking it may be an allergic reaction, but it was worse Monday morning, landing us BACK at the pediatrician's office for the umpteenth time!
Turned out he had SCARLET FEVER (strep throat with a rash)?!?! I didn't even know that people could still get that this day in age, much less someone Miles's age!? But go figure! We WOULD have that! Poor buddy! :(
We were finishing out the last day of antibiotics today when Miles wakes up this morning (in our bed like always) and all of a sudden he started whining. I couldn't figure out why? We had just been playing airplane and he climbed down out of the bed like he always does and just laid out on the floor whining.
Chase picked him up and carried him in to the kitchen just thinking he wanted to be held, but when he set him down Miles wouldn't put any pressure on his left leg and started crying again. This went on for a while. I called the pediatrician (ONCE AGAIN) as soon as they opened and got an 8:50 appointment.
He limped and whined up until the doctor came in the room then miraculously was running around acting completely normal. GO FIGURE! The doctor just told me to watch him, give him Motrin and call him back if it continued.
I ran a few errands with him (keeping him off his leg as much as possible) and he ended up falling asleep before lunch. After he woke up, and was eating lunch, he stood up from his chair and fell to the ground limping and whining again!?!? Sooooo I called the doctor BACK and he went ahead and referred us to an orthopedic group to have it checked out. We went there at 1:45, saw a doctor there, and once again, as soon as the doctor came in, Miles was running around completely normal like nothing was wrong??? So once again I was told to just keep an eye on him and call back Friday if it persists over the next few days. Baffling? So far this afternoon and tonight he was completely back to normal so we will see.....
Who doesn't love chocolate when they are "sick"?! :)
